Customized truck honoring Vietnam Veterans
August 10th, 2018 | Truck Driving, Veterans

Here at Phoenix Truck Driving Institute, we understand the challenges of reintegration after military service. Our CDL program thanks military service-members and veterans for their service by providing vocational training support. Use your transferable skills to get ready for a rewarding career in the trucking industry.

Montgomery GI Bill

This bill offers education benefits for veterans and service-members with at least two years of active duty. This program can pay up to 36 months of benefits. The specific monthly benefit it offers depends on your length of service, type of training, and whether you contributed to the $600 buy-up program. The buy-up program requires service-members to contribute $600 to the GI Bill during their term of active duty in order to receive larger monthly education benefits.

Post-9/11 GI Bill

The post-9/11 GI bill provides education benefits to active duty and honorably discharged veterans who have at least 90 days of aggregate active duty service following September 10, 2001. Note that if you’re eligible for more than one GI bill, you can only receive benefits from one of them at a time.

Veterans Vocational Rehabilitation

This program, which is referred to as Chapter 31, offers vocational rehabilitation services to servicemembers and veterans who have a service-connected disability. To qualify, a veteran’s disability must have a rating of at least 20% with an employment handicap, or a rating of at least 10% with a serious employment handicap. Additionally, veterans must be honorably discharged or released from service in a manner other than dishonorable discharge. Along with vocational services, this program will pay a subsistence allowance to veterans who undergo vocational training or education, such as CDL training.
