It doesn’t look right. She can’t be more than 14, 15, 16 at the most. It’s a cold night and she’s dressed in a micro-mini skirt with stiletto-heeled boots and a short jacket. She’s leaning against a black luxury SUV. There seem to be more girls like her inside. The SUV is running with the lights on.

She watches as you pull into the truck stop, park your rig and get out to go inside the diner. She walks in after you and sits at the counter within your line of sight. As you get a better look at her, she looks more like 12 or 13 years old.

You think to yourself, “She reminds me of my ________ (daughter, granddaughter, niece, little sister)”. She doesn’t belong here.

You are absolutely right. She is a victim of human sex trafficking. You may think that slavery only happens in foreign countries. Wrong. It’s right here in America.
